Truck Driver Crashes Into Realistic Highway Billboard on Delhi-Dehradun Expressway

A truck driver crashes into a barrier near Dehradun’s Asharodi exit after mistaking a realistic Delhi-Dehradun Expressway billboard for an open road. Police are investigating as concerns grow over recent accidents and road safety.

A truck driver crashed into a barrier near the Asharodi exit in Dehradun after reportedly mistaking a highly realistic highway billboard for an actual open road. The incident, captured on video, has drawn online attention while raising questions about the mural’s design and road safety in the area.

The billboard features detailed road markings, a skyline, trees and the text “Starting from Delhi,” creating the appearance of a continuation of the highway. The driver reportedly mistook the painted scene for a real, accessible route and drove into the barrier.

Videos of the crash have circulated online, prompting users to draw comparisons with the fictional cartoon character Wile E. Coyote, known for running into obstacles while chasing the Road Runner. The incident has also triggered discussions about whether realistic roadside murals could confuse motorists.

The crash comes amid reports of four to five recent accidents in the area, in which two people were killed and others injured. The incidents have intensified concerns about road safety near the Asharodi exit.

Police have not established any link between the billboard and the reported accidents so far. However, an investigation into the matter is underway.

Critics have called for a review of the mural’s realism and placement, arguing that roadside designs should not create confusion for drivers. The incident has brought renewed attention to the need to assess the placement and visual presentation of highway billboards alongside broader road safety concerns.
